DOVE × JUGNI : THE REBORN ANTHEM / (SPOTIFY LINK)
Music Production / Brand Collaboration / Women’s Empowerment
Smokey contributed to the music production of Jugni: The Reborn Anthem, a musical collaboration created for Dove’s campaign celebrating women, resilience, self-expression and renewal. Built around the stories and experiences of women, the project uses music as a powerful medium to explore strength, transformation and the freedom to redefine one’s identity.
Composed by Sneha Khanwalkar, the anthem brings together distinctive musical voices, including Raja Kumari and Afsana Khan, creating a collaboration that connects contemporary sound with the diverse experiences of women. The project forms part of Dove’s broader commitment to celebrating real stories of strength, confidence and personal reinvention. For Smokey, contributing to the production meant being part of a project where music extended beyond entertainment, becoming a platform for representation, expression and meaningful storytelling. The collaboration reflects her wider interest in projects that bring together music, culture and social impact, while amplifying women’s voices through creative work.
Jugni : The Reborn Anthem stands as an example of music’s ability to bring different voices together around a shared message of resilience, identity and renewal.
MUSIC FOR A CITY MOURNING
Original Music / Musical Tribute / Social Impact
In the aftermath of the tragic Elphinstone Road railway station stampede in Mumbai in September 2017, Smokey collaborated with Ft. KR Prathamesh and singer Mayur Sukale to create a musical tribute in memory of those who lost their lives and everyone affected by the tragedy. Conceived as a heartfelt response to a deeply painful moment in Mumbai’s history, the piece brought together artists through the universal language of music. It offered a space for remembrance, reflection and solidarity, honouring the lives touched by the tragedy and acknowledging the collective grief felt across the city. For Smokey, the project represented a more personal and socially conscious dimension of her musical journey, using sound not simply as a form of artistic expression, but also as a way to respond to real experiences, connect with a community and preserve the memory of a moment that deeply affected Mumbai.
Music for a City Mourning reflects the power of music to hold space for grief, bring people together and express emotions that words alone may struggle to convey.
DRUM AND BASS SETS
RAM RECORDS × EQ50 / OFFICIAL MENTEE / (ARTICLE LINK)
In 2022/23, Smokey was selected as an official RAM Records mentee through EQ50’s international mentorship programme for women and non binary artists in Drum & Bass. The programme connected her with the RAM Records ecosystem and provided a platform for further development as a producer, alongside industry mentorship, production insight and creative guidance. For Smokey, the opportunity represented an important milestone in her journey as a Drum & Bass artist from India, strengthening her connection with the global D&B community while continuing to develop her own production language.
LOCUS DRUM AND BASS FESTIVAL, INDONESIA
A personal moment from Smokey’s performance at Locus Drum & Bass Festival in Bali, capturing the energy and emotion of a set that brought together two deeply connected sides of her musical identity. Blending her love for Indian classical music and Hindi sounds with the intensity and rhythm of Drum & Bass, Smokey created a set that reflected her distinctive approach to cultural fusion and electronic music. Recorded live on an iPhone, this raw recording preserves the atmosphere of the moment as it unfolded, capturing the connection between the artist and the audience despite its limitations in audio and visual quality. For Smokey, the performance was a deeply meaningful experience, made even more memorable by the response of the audience and the energy that continued throughout the set. The performance represents Smokey’s continuing exploration of Indian musical heritage within contemporary bass music, bringing traditional sounds, familiar voices and Drum & Bass together in a way that is personal, experimental and rooted in her own artistic language.
