ABOUT
Smokey is a Mumbai based DJ, Music Producer, Electronic Live Artist, Educator, TEDx Speaker and Social Worker whose work sits at the intersection of underground bass music, Indian musical tradition and contemporary electronic culture. With over 15 years of experience in the music industry, she has established a distinctive presence within India’s electronic music scene, performing across clubs, concerts, festivals, cultural platforms and events in India and internationally. Rooted in Drum & Bass, Dubstep, Breaks and experimental bass, Smokey’s sound is shaped by a deep connection to Indian musical traditions. Indian vocals, ragas, traditional instrumentation and organic textures become part of her productions and performances, bringing the depth, improvisation and character of Indian classical music into contemporary bass driven electronic music. Her work explores the natural relationship between Indian musical heritage, rhythm, bass, sound design and club culture. Alongside her underground identity, Smokey presents INDIRAA MUSIC a project exploring Indian classical influences through House and Techno. Through this project and her wider body of work, she continues to experiment with ways of bringing traditional musical language into contemporary electronic environments while retaining its character and authenticity. Over the years, Smokey’s work has extended beyond DJing and music production into live electronic performance, education, mentorship, collaborations, brand projects and socially driven music initiatives. Her creative journey reflects a continuous interest in exploring new sounds, connecting different musical worlds and using music as a medium for cultural expression and collaboration.

As a TEDx speaker and social worker, Smokey’s work extends into education, creativity, community and social impact. She has contributed to projects and initiatives connected to women, culture and community, while continuing to use her experience and platform to share knowledge and create opportunities for others. From underground bass culture to Indian musical traditions, from the DJ booth to the classroom, Smokey continues to explore the possibilities of sound, bringing together heritage, experimentation and contemporary electronic music.
